Privacy Policy & Reminder Email Data Protection
Rail.Yaar respects your privacy. You can use the IRCTC Booking Date Calculator and Train Route Checker without creating an account or providing any personal data. We collect your email address only when you explicitly opt in to schedule a ticket booking reminder alert.
1. What Data We Store When You Schedule an Email Reminder
When you submit the optional Email Reminder form, we store only the minimum fields required to deliver your requested alert:
• Your email address (normalised to lowercase)
• Selected train number, train name, boarding station code/name, and running day (Day 1/2/3)
• Target travel date, calculated booking opening date/time, quota type (60-Day ARP or Tatkal), and reminder lead time (1 or 2 days prior)
• Delivery status ('scheduled', 'sent', or 'unsubscribed') and creation/delivery timestamps
2. Why We Store This Data (Purpose Limitation)
Your email address and journey metadata are processed solely to send you: (a) a confirmation email when the reminder is scheduled, and (b) a single reminder alert 1 or 2 days before the IRCTC booking window opens.
We NEVER sell, rent, or share your email address with advertisers, data brokers, or third-party marketers, and we never send promotional newsletters.
3. Data Storage, Sub-Processors & Retention Period
• Infrastructure & Sub-Processors: Reminder records are processed via Cloudflare Workers and stored in our database (Supabase) and delivered via transactional email providers (Resend or Brevo).
• Retention Period: Scheduled reminder records are retained only until your booking opening date has passed. Sent or unsubscribed reminder records are automatically purged within 30 days after the booking window opens, or immediately upon your deletion request.
4. How to Delete Your Reminder Data & Withdraw Consent
You can withdraw consent and delete your scheduled reminder emails at any time at zero cost:
• Instant Web Unsubscribe / Erasure: Visit /unsubscribe (or click the Unsubscribe link in the footer of any reminder email) to immediately cancel and delete all reminders linked to your email address.
• Email Request: Send an email to alerts@yaar.fyi requesting erasure of your reminder records.
5. Your Rights Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act)
In accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) of India, where Rail.Yaar acts as a Data Fiduciary for reminder emails and you act as the Data Principal, you have the following rights:
• Right to Access Information (Section 11): Request a summary of personal data being processed for your email address.
• Right to Correction and Erasure (Section 12): Request immediate erasure of your email address and scheduled reminders.
• Right to Withdraw Consent (Section 6): Withdraw consent at any time via /unsubscribe with the same ease with which consent was given.
• Right of Grievance Redressal (Section 13): Contact our grievance mailbox (alerts@yaar.fyi) regarding any data protection concern.
