Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How does the IRCTC 60-day Advance Reservation Period (ARP) count days?
Under official Indian Railways / IRCTC rules, the 60-day ARP is counted excluding the date of journey at the train's originating station. That means general-quota booking opens on Origin Departure Date minus 60 calendar days at 08:00 AM IST.
What are the exact IRCTC Tatkal booking timings for AC and Non-AC classes?
Tatkal booking opens 1 day prior to the train's originating station departure date: AC classes (1A, 2A, 3A, CC, EC) open at 10:00 AM IST, while Non-AC classes (Sleeper SL, Second Sitting 2S) open at 11:00 AM IST.
How is the booking opening date calculated for a Day 2 boarding station?
IRCTC calculates the 60-day ARP and 1-day Tatkal window from the train's Day 1 departure at its originating station. If your train reaches your boarding station on Day 2, booking opens 61 days before your boarding date.
